If you were at Christ of the Bay during VBS week in June, the plains of East Africa were growing up all around you. You might have seen a giraffe nibbling at the leaves of an acacia tree or a lion crouching in the grass watching a herd of zebras or a family of elephants kicking up clouds of dust and insects as they meandered by. The elephants were followed by flocks of cattle, egrets and a pair of crowned cranes (the African equivalent of the sandhills), feasting on the insects stirred up by the elephants. You met Zach, the zebra; Roary, the lion; Elaine, the crane; Gigi, the giraffe; and Lug, the elephant. You learned many songs and did crafts like making a drum and making a cross. You played games outside and heard Bible stories. You watched Chadder in the video and ate great snacks like the lion and the giraffe. It was a great week!! We had a R-O-A-R-I-N-G GOOD time! There were 58 Serengeti Trekkers!!
